Members of SARAY Iluminado, musically reimagine ruptured Balkan and Sephardic Jewish heritage in contemporary Australia. They specialise in new interpretations of Sevdah, traditional songs from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Sephardic Jewish Romances. The ensemble straddles the borders of live music, ritualistic performance and story-telling, creating intimate and immersive, tavern-style musical experiences. SARAY Iluminado is led by the Bosnian-Australian artist Nela Trifkovic and performs for the National Multicultural Festival as a trio SARAY Iluminado Femme, where Nela is joined by Irine Vela and Kelly Dowall. Be prepared to time travel to the Balkans and the Adriatic coast through songs!
