A key attraction at the National Multicultural Festival is the vast range of food and drink, this year saw a greater variety in the food on offer.

Food Permits

All stalls intending to sell or sample food must acquire food permit. Your Registration Certificate must be displayed at all times. Please use the below checklist to ensure your stall is operating under compliance.

  • Registered Correctly (Declared Event or ACT Food Business Rego) with a Food Safety Supervisor.
  • Stall set up is compliant (3 sides and roof, floor coverings, suitable surfaces).
  • Hand washing station is set up and in use inside the stall.
  • Food is prepared, cooked, stored and displayed under safe temperature control (below 5 degrees or above 60 degrees).
  • Stall is clean, well-organised and food is protected from contamination.

Liquor Permits

All stalls intending to sell or sample liquor must obtain liquor permit. Please ensure you have applied for and successfully obtained the correct liquor permit for your stall.

  • Non-commercial Commercial Permits: A non-commercial permit is a permit authorising a non-profit organisation to sell liquor at an event.
  • Commercial Permits: A commercial permit is a permit authorising an entity that is not a non-profit organisation to sell liquor at an event.

Please ensure you have approval by the festival organizers to sell liquor at the event prior to applying for a Liquor Permit.

Non-Commercial liquor is via an online application form located on the Access Canberra website under the Liquor licensing and permits section. When completing the online form, please check the ‘Government sponsored events’ in the ‘Type of event’ drop down box; and insert ‘National Multicultural Festival’ in the ‘Name of event’ box.

NOTE: You must be a Non-Profit group to apply for a Non-Commercial Liquor Permit and if you are not a registered Not for Profit group please provide details of your Not for Profit status at the time of application.
