Momposina look forward to bringing a part of one of the most vibrant and colourful carnivals in the world, the Barranquilla’s Carnaval of Colombia. The famous marimondas with the comical and exaggerated masks and the elegant cumbiamberas in flowing skirts move rhythmically to the contagious beats of Afro-Colombian rhythms. Music fills the air with the live band with drummers, uniting the community in a shared expression of joy and pride.

The Latin American Carnival brings together a diverse range of local dance schools, artists, and community members through performance that promotes and fosters cross-cultural awareness and respect and celebrates the contribution of Hispanic culture to multiculturalism in Canberra.
