The Bandoneon and Tango Workshop for Musicians is crafted for individuals across all musical skill levels who possess an interest in tango and seek an in-depth and efficient exploration of this entrancing genre. Although the Bandoneon may not be the founder instrument in tango, it represents the most profound embodiment of its intricate musical fabric. Participants in this workshop will acquire foundational knowledge of the music with an emphasis on accompaniment, phrasing of melodies, and the construction of narratives that resonate with the traditions upheld by original South American tango musicians. We invite you to join this workshop, where prior experience is not a prerequisite, and all instruments are welcome. The curriculum will encompass the complexities of the Bandoneon, analyse the stylistic elements inherent in tango music, and facilitate collaborative jam sessions to explore the abundant resources intrinsic to this dynamic musical form. This Workshop is directed by Rodolfo Caivano, Bandoneon player, Argentinian Australian Based in Canberra with long experience in teaching Bandoneon and Tango music. There will be collaborators with Kieran Sawyer, Guitar Player, Eloise Reddy Violin Player and Jaime Gifford, Bandoneon Player.
