ACT Chinese Women Culture Association – Paper cutting and Gu Qin workshop

Members of the Chinese Women Association will demonstrate the traditional Chinese folk art of paper cutting. During festivals many Chinese families make red paper cut-outs to decorate their windows. These decorations express their longing for a happy life. The workshop session will also introduce visitors to Chinese ink painting and members will perform traditional songs on the ancient Chinese instrument – the GuQin. The GuQin has 7 strings and when masterfully played creates a unique, ethereal music.
