Do you play in a band? Do you want to play in a band? School’s in this summer for young rock musos aged 11-16 years at Music For Everyone’s Rock School.
Enjoy a fun week of afternoon workshops in electric lead guitar, bass guitar, drum-kit, and vocals. Get expert tips on playing rock music, plus great jam sessions together as bands, with professional band players as your coaches.
At the end of the workshop, participants will give a short showcase performance for family and friends, plus some lucky Rock School bands will go on to play outdoor gigs in February at the National Multicultural Festival!
Rock School will be held at the Ainslie Arts Centre in Braddon (the old Ainslie Public School), where’s there’s plenty of room for bands to rock. A great way to spend a week of your summer holidays!

Ever heard the expression: “It takes two to tango?”. Well, there’s another one: “If you can walk you can tango”. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your dancing shoes and come and learn Argentine tango!
Don’t worry if you don’t have a partner, there will be plenty of experienced dancers available to help you turn your walk into a tango-walk. The introductory workshop will be preceded by a short demonstration of social Argentine tango by members of the Tango Social Club of Canberra. And you’ll even be able to test out your newfound tango skills next week at the Hellenic Club Carnivale Tango Café!

Come along and see Australia's very best Kung Fu, Wu Shu and Tai Chi athletes compete for selection to the Australian Team that will compete in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics.
The 2008 National Kung Fu, Wu Shu and Tai Chi Championships will be held on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17, February at the Vikings Auditorium, McBryde Crescent, Erindale.
Eliminations will be held on Saturday (9am to 5pm), with the finals and demonstration events held on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
Admission to the Eliminations will cost $5 ($15 per family) and admission to the Finals will cost $10 ($30 per family).
On Sunday 17, the program will include an official opening, a traditional lion dance, spectacular demonstrations of Chinese Martial Arts and an attempt at breaking a Guinness World Record for breaking concrete blocks by Master Neal Hardy of Fire Dragon Australia, who is already a Guinness World Record Holder.

A series of workshops will be open to the public free of charge in the Belconnen and Tuggeranong areas during the fortnight preceding the 2008 National Kung Fu, Wu Shu and Tai Chi Championships.
The Belconnen workshops will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 at the Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Street; and the Tuggeranong ones on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 at a venue to be selected.
